Black Flag’s economy rewards exploration. Even if you mostly follow story beats, periodic chest sweeps keep your Jackdaw competitive without forcing repetitive farming. Resynced’s lighting can make some shoreline caches easier to notice—glints, breakable crates, and camp layouts read more cleanly— but you still need a plan or you will double-pass the same beach twice.
Coastal and camp chests
Approach beaches with a consistent pattern: land on the widest sand patch, sweep clockwise, check dock pilings, then move inland toward tents. Many camps place chests beside alarm bells—grab loot before stealth breaks or after you silence scouts per stealth guidance.
Buried treasure and maps
Maps exist to teach landmark recognition. When you acquire a map, identify the island shape first, then match unique rock spires or wreck silhouettes. If you are stuck, climb a nearby viewpoint for a panorama. Buried spots often sit on gentle slopes rather than vertical cliffs—if your shovel prompt fails, you are usually off by a few meters, not continents.
Restricted zones
Fort chests are higher risk. Decide upfront: stealth entry or loud takeover. Loud clears cost time but simplify searching interiors. Stealth keeps bounty pressure lower. Either way, prioritize chests near captain quarters or armories—designers cluster high-value loot where guards are densest.
Sailing loops that respect your time
