What the keys unlock

Keys are earned by eliminating Templar-linked targets through dedicated hunt missions. Completing the set opens access to a coveted armor reward that matters for players who want a strong defensive option and completion credit. The remake may tune combat pacing, but the strategic advice remains: do not procrastinate hunts so long that your skills outscale the challenge without teaching you mechanics.

When to tackle hunts

Start keys once you are comfortable with combat chains and have baseline ship power from Jackdaw upgrades. If you attempt hunts under-geared, you will still win, but the fights feel spongy and consume resources. If you wait too long, you lose the training value and turn hunts into chores.

Approach patterns

Each target sits inside a scenario—public spaces, forts, or hybrid naval-to-land beats. Scout with stealth when you can isolate the target; go loud when stealth costs more time than a direct duel. For naval segments, follow naval positioning rules: broadside control first, boarding second.

Integrate with map completion

Hunts often overlap with chest clusters and viewpoints. Before sailing away after a kill, sweep the island for leftover icons so you do not rebuild travel time. Track which regions still need fragments while you are present.

Templar FAQ

Can I fail hunts permanently?

Generally no—expect standard retry flows—but do not ignore mission prompts if you dislike backtracking across the map later.

Is the armor required?

Not for story, but it is valuable for players who want a tangible reward beyond currency and cosmetics.
